While my 5 sisters and I were growing up in California, my parents had to choose between saving for retirement and helping us have a better childhood. I’ll always be grateful they chose the latter. I took finance courses in high school and college, and learned it doesn’t have to be either/or, and can be both. I knew then that I could make a positive impact in families’ lives by showing them you can give your kids a great future, without losing out on your own.
My clients are mainly in technology and aerospace. Many are software engineers who approach life as meticulously as they write their code. A good few come from other countries and are not from money; they’ll typically send a portion of their income home to help parents who sacrificed everything they had to give them a flying start.
They’re concerned with doing all they can to protect and provide for their families. Most are worried about taxes eating away at their portfolio, and are looking to learn more about optimizing their finances, and ensure they‘re doing everything possible to maximize their compensation benefits, lower their taxes, and grow their wealth.
Having played baseball my whole life, I know the value of teamwork above individualism, and have used this in my financial consultancy practice. I use a data science approach to help clients diversify in a tax efficient manner, educating them to make the right choices and become confident in their financial lives. By making informed decisions, they become less likely to second guess themselves, and get to sleep easy at night.
I always wanted to live in the Seattle area and run my own business, and got my MBA in finance at Gonzaga University in Spokane. I hold Series 7 and Series 66 registrations, allowing me to act in my clients’ best interest. I’m also insurance licensed, and am able to help protect families from the scary aspects of life we don’t like to think about.
One of the primary reasons I joined WestStar is that our office spends time each quarter doing community service. I also sponsor dozens of community events each year, and it’s always rewarding to see the fruits of your labor – helping individuals or organizations grow over time. Before moving to Seattle, I volunteered for the League of Dreams, helping special needs children participate in sports.
At home, I’m a sports junkie. My wife and I love watching Mariners baseball, and I’m slowly getting her to enjoy Gonzaga basketball games. She is working on converting me into a Seahawks fan. We are expecting our first child and we have two dogs. We love to hike, our most recent hike was Snow Lake in the Snoqualmie Pass.
I have five sisters and am the spoiled only boy child of my family. I grew up a Mariners fan in California. I am ambidextrous after breaking both my left and right arms. I am a statistics nerd; I could talk for hours about sports and random life stats My Pomeranian, Bandit, was the only living thing I knew in Washington when I moved here
